Choosing Control Charts in ExcelControl charts with stability analysis can be created easily with the QI Macros for Excel SPC software. But we found that it often took a whole afternoon of SPC class for participants to learn the basics of choosing the right control chart for their data. So, one day, I thought: "Why not mistake-proof the selection of a control chart?" The QI Macros have to analyze your data to make sure it fits with the type of chart you've selected, so why not go the extra mile and figure out what chart best fits your data? So we added the Control Chart Wizard to the pull-down menu.
Just select your data and click on the Control Chart Wizard which will analyze your data and choose the best chart for you! Here's how the Control Chart Wizard selects the chart:
The p and u charts are similar enough that the wizard will ask you if there can be more than one defect per unit (scratches per finish, falls per patient, etc.). If the you want to use the XmR Trend or XMedianR, then you will have to choose that chart. The QI Macros for Excel:
