Multi Vari Charts are used to evaluate process variability due to differences between categories. The Multi Vari chart shows the high and low values as well as each point in the sample. The spread gives you some idea of the variation. It also shows the individual and group averages. Here is an example of a Multi Vari Chart created using the QI Macros for Excel SPC software. It shows the overall customer satisfaction by customer size and market segment.
Multi vari data can have one or more columns of words or numbers (data below produced the chart above). The last column contains the values to be grouped and charted.
